The Most Magical Time in Carmarthen

As the Christmas season approached in 2024, the Carmarthen Round Table was once again filled with excitement and anticipation for our beloved Santa Sleigh run. This year, we made it our mission to not only bring joy to the children of Carmarthen but also to support those in need within our community. We are thrilled to announce that our efforts have resulted in an incredible 380kg of food donations for the Carmarthen Food Bank!

The Santa Sleigh run has become a loved tradition in our county. where volunteers dress as Santa and his elves, spreading Christmas cheer while collecting food donations from generous residents. The event took place over 5 nights in December, with our sleigh winding through the streets of Carmarthen, illuminated by festive lights and accompanied by the sounds of Christmas music.

This year, the response from the community was overwhelming. Families came out in droves to greet Santa, and many brought tinned foods items to contribute to our cause. From canned goods to pasta and rice, the variety of donations showcased the spirit of giving that defines our town. The sense of camaraderie was palpable, with neighbours helping each other and children excitedly waving to Santa as they dropped off their contributions, even the Grinch showed his naughty face!

In addition to the food collected, the Santa Sleigh run serves as a reminder of the importance of community support during the festive season. The Carmarthen Food Bank plays a crucial role in providing assistance to families in need, and our partnership with them has strengthened over the years. This collaboration not only helps to alleviate hunger but also fosters a sense of unity among residents, reminding us that we are all in this together.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in the Santa Sleigh run, whether by donating food, volunteering their time, or simply spreading the word. Your generosity has made a significant impact, and we couldn’t have achieved this without your support.
